The Discrimination of Female Music Writers…
... is the topic of this project. It aims to promote gender justice in a society which is
made to believe by the media that equality was the problem of a by-gone era.
It isn't. It is present in the veins of the music industry in the year 2013
and still impacts on music journalism and popular music discourse.
“Anything that is run by a small enclave of men is not a good place to be,”
says Andy Prevezer, Vice President of Press and Publicity at Warner Music UK.
Experiences of so many female music writers resonate in his words and that's why
Women Writing Rights shall not only shed some light on their struggles, but
also celebrate women's persistency in the music press' “hotbed of testosterone.”
